Metal Working Basics – Coffee Scoop

October 2 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Craft a stunning, heirloom-quality coffee scoop from raw materials in this hands-on metalworking class. Start with a solid copper disc and a stainless steel handle, then shape, assemble, and finish a unique piece that’s as functional as it is beautiful.

In this workshop, students will:

Form the scoop using traditional hammering techniques with a ball-peen hammer to create a beautifully dimpled texture

Customize the handle’s look by annealing stainless steel with an induction forge, bringing out rich, organic colors through heat treatment

Assemble the scoop using solid copper rivets for a clean, timeless joint

Along the way, students will learn the basics of cold-forming copper, heat coloring stainless steel, and working with solid rivets. No prior experience is required – just come ready to forge, form, and create! Each student will end the night with a one-of-a-kind copper coffee scoop and new skills in metal shaping and finishing.

Ages: 16+

Prerequisite: None

Class may be cancelled/rescheduled if minimum class size is not met 3 days prior.
