Metal Working Basics – Coffee Scoop

June 26 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

$75.00

Craft a stunning, heirloom-quality coffee scoop from raw materials in this hands-on metalworking class. Start with a solid copper disc and a stainless steel handle, then shape, assemble, and finish a unique piece that’s as functional as it is beautiful.
In this workshop, students will:

  • Form the scoop using traditional hammering techniques with a ball-peen hammer to create a beautifully dimpled texture
  • Customize the handle’s look by annealing stainless steel with an induction forge, bringing out rich, organic colors through heat treatment
  • Assemble the scoop using solid copper rivets for a clean, timeless joint

Along the way, students will learn the basics of cold-forming copper, heat coloring stainless steel, and working with solid rivets. No prior experience is required – just come ready to forge, form, and create! Each student will end the night with a one-of-a-kind copper coffee scoop and new skills in metal shaping and finishing.

Ages: 16+
Prerequisite: None
Class may be cancelled/rescheduled if minimum class size is not met 3 days prior.
