Construction Pre-Apprenticeship in Dallas

A $200 training program in Dallas, Texas that prepares adults for entry-level careers in the building trades — with hands-on shop time in the wood and metal shops, safety certification, and employer connections.

Forge The Future is a workforce development program run by Triumph Workshop, a community makerspace in Dallas, Texas. The construction track is designed for adults (18+) who want to enter the skilled trades but do not yet have the hands-on experience employers hire for.

The $200 program fee can be paid over time, and income replacement grants are available to those who qualify so participants can earn while they learn. The track combines classroom learning, hands-on shop projects, resume building, and interview coaching so participants finish ready for a first job in construction.

What you learn

The construction track starts with jobsite safety, then builds through construction math, tool operation, and hands-on projects — so every participant is shop-ready before they start cutting.

    Jobsite safety

    Participants earn their OSHA 10 card and OSHA fall protection certificate, and learn personal protective equipment use and jobsite etiquette.

    Construction math

    Measuring, layout, and the everyday math a jobsite actually uses.

  3. 03

    Trade jobs overview

    A working tour of the building trades — carpentry, welding, plumbing, electrical, heavy equipment — and what each career path looks like.

  4. 04

    Tool safety and operation

    Hands-on experience using the tools in the wood and metal shops, under full supervision from instructors.

  5. 05

    Hands-on projects

    Real shop projects that put safety, math, and tool skills together into work you can show a hiring employer.

  6. 06

    Employer-facing skills

    Financial literacy, communication skills, resume building, and interview coaching.

Who the construction track is for

  • •

    Young adults (18–24). Finished high school or a GED and want a direct path into a paycheck trade without taking on student-loan debt.

  • •

    Career changers (25–45). Leaving retail, food service, warehouse, or an office job and want to move into something hands-on and durable.

  • •

    Veterans. Transitioning out of service and want to build on the discipline, safety awareness, and team habits they already have.

  • •

    Underemployed workers. In the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, ready to commit to a short, structured program in exchange for a real trade skill.

Prior construction experience is not required. Participants must be at least 18 years old, hold a valid driver's license, and be authorized to work in the USA.

After the program

What graduates walk away with — and where it can lead.

Graduates who secure a job may receive up to $400 in tools and equipment. With Triumph Workshop's network of highly regarded professionals, Forge The Future graduates can begin their new career immediately upon completion of the program.

Triumph Workshop does not guarantee employment. Wages depend on the hiring employer, role, and the participant's prior experience.
